The park was constructed by WED Enterprises in the same style as Magic Kingdom in Florida and Disneyland in California. It is owned by The Oriental Land Company, which licenses intellectual property from The Walt Disney Company. Tokyo Disneyland and its companion park, Tokyo DisneySea, are the only Disney parks not wholly or partly owned by Disney (however, Disney has creative control).

The park has seven themed areas: the World Bazaar; the four traditional Disney lands: Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland; and two mini-lands: Critter Country and Toontown. Many of these areas mirror those in the original Disneyland as they are based on American Disney films and fantasies. Fantasyland includes Peter Pan’s Flight, Snow White’s Scary Adventures, and Dumbo the Flying Elephant, based on Disney films and characters. The park is noted for its extensive open spaces to accommodate the large crowds that visit the park. In 2018, Tokyo Disneyland hosted 17.9 million visitors, making it the world’s third-most visited theme park behind the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort.

Is Tokyo Disneyland worth going?

Tokyo Disneyland is considered worth visiting by many tourists and Disney enthusiasts. It offers a magical and immersive experience with world-class attractions, entertainment, and hospitality. The park’s meticulous attention to detail, cleanliness, and efficient operations contribute to its reputation as one of the best Disney parks globally. Visitors can enjoy iconic Disney rides, parades, character interactions, and unique Japanese twists on classic Disney experiences. The overall quality and memorable moments make it a worthwhile destination for those seeking a magical Disney adventure.

What is so special about Tokyo Disneyland?

Tokyo Disneyland is distinguished by its unique blend of Disney magic and Japanese culture. One standout feature is the unparalleled hospitality and customer service, known as “Omotenashi,” which ensures a memorable and enjoyable visit. The park also offers exclusive attractions not found in other Disney parks, such as Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Monster’s Inc. Ride & Go Seek, and the Enchanted Tiki Room: Stitch Presents “Aloha E Komo Mai!” These attractions, along with stunning seasonal events and beautifully landscaped gardens, set Tokyo Disneyland apart and make it a special Disney destination.

How much did Tokyo Disneyland cost?

The cost of building Tokyo Disneyland was approximately $360 million when it opened in 1983. However, it is important to note that this figure is based on the construction cost at that time and does not account for inflation or subsequent investments and expansions made to the park. Over the years, Tokyo Disneyland has seen multiple expansions and improvements, significantly increasing the overall investment in the park. The exact current value of the park is not readily available, but it has been a substantial financial commitment by the Walt Disney Company and its Japanese partners to maintain and enhance the park’s offerings.
