Love it or hate it, the Toronto Zoo is a thing. It’s massive. You’ll get your steps in! Opened way back in ’74, it’s a Toronto landmark whether the locals admit it or not. They try to be all about conservation, but some of the enclosures are straight-up depressing. Still, you won’t see anything like it elsewhere in Canada.
The zoo’s divided into regions. Indo-Malaya is always hot and humid – bring a water bottle. Africa’s got some seriously cool animals, but the crowds get insane. Pro tip: go for the Canadian Domain – way fewer people, and you actually get to see moose and stuff for once.
Polar bears, pandas, the usual suspects are all here. Catch feeding times for the best experience. They do this thing called “Boo at the Zoo” around Halloween – kind of cheesy, but actually fun if you have little kids. Sometimes they have late nights in the summer. Check their website because the hours change depending on the season.
